Because it's an extraordinarily slow news day, here's this I guess: Dan Auerbach never owned a lock of Bob Dylan's hair. Not that you'd necessarily assume that the Nashville-residing Black Keys frontman would own such a thing, unless of course you saw this moronic report back when Auerbach's divorce was finalized. Reports claimed that "Bob Dylan's hair" was under the "Stuff That She Gets" column in the divorce proceedings, and of course everybody ran with that. "LOL weird!" said the daily news cycle for one revolution.
But as Auerbach explains in the above clip (also TMZ ... I apologize), "Bob Dylan's hair" was simply how a Bob Dylan poster was labeled — this iconic Milton Glaser-designed Bob Dylan poster, as a matter of fact (also pictured after the jump). The one that we all had hanging in our dorm room junior year. Except I'm sure the Auerbach family's copy has a much nicer frame.
"Bob Dylan's son read that, and he texted me," Auerbach tells the TMZ dude, presumably talking about Jakob Dylan (whose Wallflowers recently recorded at Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound here in Nashville). "He said, 'If you really need a lock of his hair, I can probably get it for you.'" Ha.
