ABC’s soapidy* dopity* series Nashville is currently on a little mid-second-season hiatus — not to return with new episodes until Jan. 15 — but that doesn’t mean you can’t watch the clip above. It's of Nashville-gone-idiot-box dreamboat Sam “Gunnar Scott” Palladio crooning his meta-as-fuck, Music City-inspired original number “Wake Me up in Nashville” onstage during an actual, non-fictional Grand Ole Opry performance earlier this year.
Before roaring into the rip-roaring, plucky, bouncy Mumford & Sons-worthy ditty, the deliciously charismatic Palladio — who is indeed very, very British and had never been to Nashville before landing a TV role as a honey-voiced Texan — shares a hand-me-down anecdote of how his presumably likewisedly* limey granddad Owen had a Sliding Doors moment with a Nashville girl back in the day (the story that inspired the song).
Art imitates life? … Life imitates art?
