Liquor Store and Natural Child Tonight at The End

Posted By on Tue, Dec 17, 2013 at 12:58 PM

Good grief, the end of the year is slipping up behind us like a sneaky bandit! Or maybe it's more like Santa Claus, with a big ol' bag of goodies he's trying to deliver without being noticed. Case in point: tonight's show with sneery New Jersey punks Liquor Store. That's them above, ripping through "Pile of Dirt" at Death by Audio before they tracked it for their latest LP, In the Garden. That came out via Almost Ready in October, but you can still check the whole thing out over at Spin. All kinds of brain-tinglin' sounds come out of their triple-guitar attack — a little Thin Lizzy here, a little Sabbath there, a little Damned over there.

Local rockers Natural Child — lately flossing their country chops a bit and recently named Best Local Band in our Best of Nashville 2013 issue — are the hot burger you need to go with Liquor Store's cold tallboy. If you've been paying attention, you probably know their forthcoming LP, Dancin' With Wolves, doesn't hit shelves til February, but still take a peek at the first single, and follow the link to their Velvet Underground tribute track, too; swirl it around, it burns a little and then leaves a nice, warm glow, just like a shot of good bourbon.

Fans of The Best Show on WFMU of course know that the popular rock 'n' roll- and comedy-centric, Tom Scharpling-hosted program will end its 13-year run tonight. But if you don't plan on staying in and streaming that, Liquor Store and Natural Child will be joined this evening by Dome at The End. Cover is $5.
