Penicillin Baby remains just about my favorite underrated Nashville rock act — shimmering psych-rock guitars and catchy vocal hooks for days. The Babies have once again teamed up with local production crew Hoy Poloy to film a performance, and you can watch that above. "Thought It Couldn't Be This Way" is an urgent, shape-shifting slab of poppy, jamming psychedelia, and the performance was shot in an old paint factory (called The Old Paint Factory, it would seem) with some appropriately far-out visuals backing the band.
Penicillin Baby will play Tristen's album release show tonight at The Stone Fox (they'll play again Monday for Mercy Lounge's Psych Night 8 off 8th). Also performing tonight at the Fox will be experimentalist Matt Glassmeyer and his Meadownoise, whose brand-new "Hair Just So" we shared with you yesterday. Glassmeyer also created the P-Baby/Meadownoise/Tristen mash-up "sonic poster" you can watch after the jump.
