Local chamber-folk ensemble Honey Locust prides itself on focusing on "dynamics, melodies, intricacies and lyricism," and in the brand-new video for their "Honey Pot" — directed by Dylan Carver and Blake Holland — their apparent craftsman-like approach is on display. The video was shot during the song's tracking at Skaggs Place (yes, as in the studio of local bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs), and you can watch it above.
Back in April, Honey Locust got money-focused, seeking the funds to record their debut LP The Great Southern Brood. They hit their goal, and they'll be releasing Brood "hopefully by the end of the year." So, if you like thoughtfully arranged, lyrical, appropriately autumnal and somewhat sentimental folk music, go ahead and dig in. And if you want to catch Honey Locust in the flesh, they'll play Monday night at The Basement with Frontier Ruckus and Anderson East.
