Local fans of thoughtful, synth-rich, post-punk- and New Wave-inspired pop music are likely already familiar with Ponychase. In the past, we here at the Cream have compared the Jordan Caress-fronted quartet to The Cure, Kate Bush, Cyndi Lauper, Sinead O'Connor, Eurythmics and Cocteau Twins, among others. Well, the new-New-Romantic Ponychasers are preparing an LP slated for release later this year, and they're just about to drop the long-player's first single. On Saturday night, in fact, they'll celebrate with a triple-single-release show at The Basement. "Triple?!" you ask. "Bwha?" That's right. Fellow locals El El and *Repeat Repeat will also be releasing singles at Saturday's show. See a teaser video and flyer after the jump.
But back to the Ponychase single in question. Above you'll find the video for "Parade of Youth," which is sourced from old 8-millimeter footage. The track itself is a characteristically lavish electro-pop tune replete with feelings. Stream the track below or via Ponychase's Soundcloud page.
