Matt Wertz's 'Get to You' [Fresh Vid]

The new video for Matt Wertz's "Get to You" begs a very important question: Are '80s-themed, neon-colored, mustache-adorned, choreographed music videos still funny? The video — which you can see above — was partially filmed at local venue 12th & Porter, and it certainly suits the song's vibe (i.e., "Get to You" sounds like a sequel to Don Henley's "Boys of Summer," for better or worse, and the video looks 1985 as hell). By the way, I'm not asking this question rhetorically or sarcastically; I watch dozens and dozens of local music videos every week, and most of them don't feature a fraction of the production value, effort or plot of Wertz's "Get to You," so I appreciate that part of it. I'm just wondering if the nostalgia LOLs have run out for anyone else, though I'll freely admit that perhaps I'm being a touch too cynical.

Wertz's LP Heat Wave will be released Aug. 27, and a press release does indeed cite Henley as an influence (along with fellow pastel warriors Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx and Bryan Adams). Also, Heat Wave "will be released as a limited cassette run with Walkman players signed by Matt," but it "will also be available on vinyl, CD and at all digital retailers." More info at Wertz's site.
