Hey party people. So, as mentioned in the round-up, Summerdaze will be going on tomorrow night at both The End and Exit/In. One $15 ticket ($17 on day of show) will get you into both venues, and you can pick those up at The Groove or Grimey's. Individual venue tickets are available at The End's site and Exit's site. Get in the mood by watching the Tim Duggan-directed trailer (above), downloading the Summerdaze sampler (featuring songs by all eight performing bands) or by reading my Critic's Pick:
Well, if retro-flavored and smartly played psych and indie rock are your bag, you’ll have a hard time finding a more promising soiree this weekend than Summerdaze at The End and Exit/In. Hoisting both their freak flag and the American flag with equal zeal, motorcycle-and-Mary-Jane-loving longtime Scene faves Turbo Fruits lead the charge at Exit/In, with an undercard that boasts beer-soaked roots rock from Promised Land Sound (formerly Promised Land), squawking joke folk from birds of a filthy feather Birdcloud, and shape-shifting meat-and-potatoes indie rock from The Kingston Springs. Over at The End, dance-psych-soul-garage-pop hybrid bad boys Fly Golden Eagle head up a bill that also features psychedelic freak-out master Majestico, not to mention a dual dose of idiosyncratic indie rock from youngsters Sol Cat and What Up English. So clutch your beer tightly in your left hand while saluting Uncle Sam with your right, because nothing says “’Merica” like a bunch of hairy, young motherfuckers playing rock ’n’ roll really, really loudly. —D. There's a Facebook event page as well, if that's what you're into.
