Fans of painfully beautiful Icelandic gibberish have cause to celebrate this afternoon — and not just because the countdown until Björk plays Bonnaroo is in the single-digits. Hot on the heels of their Simpsons appearance, Sigur Rós announced today that not only will they touring the East Coast this fall, but they'll be stopping in Nashville for a gig at The Woods at Fontanel on Sept. 27.
It's been about seven-and-a-half years since Jónsi Birgisson and his motley crew of indie-classical multi-instrumentalist weirdos came to town, when they sold out Valentine's Day 2006 at the Ryman in a matter of minutes. Guess who's still bummed out about missing that show! Here's a hint: It's me, you guys. It's totally me.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. Also, you can sign up for pre-sale information online. For now, enjoy this handheld camera flashback to Sigur Ros' 2006 Ryman gig and wait patiently for their new LP, Kveikur, to drop next week. Or watch a clip of Justin Bieber slowed down 800 percent. It's all about the same.
