HEY! Y’all like breakout Americana luminaries The Lumineers? HO! The Colorado quintet (trio on paper and in press photos) has announced a three-night stand at the Ryman, to take place Oct. 12-14. HEY! Do you also like neo-psych, baroque-pop road warriors Dr. Dog? HO! In their ongoing quest to grace every stage in Music City multiple times
, the band will open the Looms' Mother Church stint. HEY! Guess what other earnest grass-pop stars du jour pulled a three-nighter at the Ryman last year. HO! Mumford & Sons
! And if I had a punch to the mug for every time I’ve heard Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers mentioned in the same breath, I’d have a broken face fit for a Pixies lyric.
Anyway, my money’s on a fast sellout for these shows, as the Looms' Kodak-moment-ready heartstring-plucker “Ho Hey” is, in 2013, almost as ubiquitous as OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” was in 2003. I’m sure some clever mountain-to-molehill maker out there could craft a fascinating think piece tracing the trajectory of modern pop music trends, using the arc between those two singles as bookend examples, but I’ll spare you that prose.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m., right here.
