As promised, recently resurrected indie-rock outfit Hotpipes dropped their brand-new LP Dust today via YK Records. As a matter of fact, you can stream the whole thing below or purchase it ($7 for download, $15 for the remarkably sharp-looking vinyl) via Hotpipes' Bandcamp page. Spoiler: It's an ambitious, well-executed, post-punk- and New Wave-inspired collection of melodious, kitchen-sink rock 'n' roll.
In celebration of Dust's release, the 'Pipes have a new video for the tune "Magic Is Everywhere," and you can see that above. Like the visually striking and monster-laden recent video for "Answer Your Telephone," "Magic" was directed by Hotpipes frontman Jonathan Rogers. Not only that, but it also features youngster versions of Rogers and multi-instrumentalist Dan Sommers. I think I'll call this junior-size version of the band Totpipes. Yes, that works. The video also features a spirited mud fight, some voracious mango- and chicken-eating, a bit of cross-dressing and more. Armchair psychologists, have fun cracking this one open. Everyone else, enjoy how rad it looks, and catch Hotpipes' release show May 11 at Mercy Lounge.
