The National to Return to the Ryman Sept. 8

Posted By on Mon, May 6, 2013 at 11:59 AM

Last time brainy purveyors of scholarly indie rock The National passed through Music City, they played the Ryman on the heels of 2010's High Violet. And if you're to believe The Spin, it was a good thing, as "their erudite melodrama is most palpable when backlit by tasteful but very powerful spotlights." Well then, good news for fans of erudite melodrama, as The National will return to the Ryman on Sept. 8, where they'll be joined by Scotland's Frightened Rabbit.

The National just announced a string of tour dates in support of their forthcoming Trouble Will Find Me, out May 20 via 4AD. (See the video for "Demons," the first single from Trouble, above.) Of course, they'll also be playing Bonnaroo (Sunday, June 16, at 6:30 p.m.), but I think you'll find that tickets to this Ryman gig are cheaper than even the cheapest of 'Roo general-admission passes. Duh. Anyhow, tickets to Sept. 8's show will go on sale Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. via this link. Although, it bears mentioning that according to The National's website, there will be a pre-sale May 8 at 10 a.m. with the password "Trouble."
