"That's fine, whatever," you say. "I'll see them for free at Grimey's on Record Store Day this Saturday." OK, yeah, true. You may do that. But for those looking to kick off their Record Store Day weekend on an also-free-but-definitely-not-as-crowded note, here's news: The Features will play Friday, April 19, at Mercy Lounge, along with fellow Cream faves Nikki Lane and Andrew Combs, plus relative newcomer Odessa Rose. Admission won't cost you a penny. "What's the catch?" you ask. Well, only 300 people will be allowed to enter (that's a couple hundred heads short of Mercy Lounge's full capacity), and you may end up on film.
You see — as noted here — the event is billed as the "Frye Jam Session," and it'll be filmed by some shoe people. Meaning that, "by attending the event detailed on this admission ticket, you permit Jimlar Corporation ('Frye') to film or photograph you and create one or more photographs ... image, likeness, appearance and performance ... irrevocable, worldwide and royalty-free permission ... in perpetuity," blah blah, et cetera, ad infinitum.
Doors are 7 p.m., show starts at 8. And according to a source, "I guess you can say, 'Rumor has it.. there will be some very cool door prizes.'" So ... rumor has it, there will be some very cool door prizes.
