Riding High in Bucket City: Boro Fondo Full Schedule, Lineup Announced

Posted By on Tue, Apr 16, 2013 at 11:27 AM

With a favorable weather forecast for this year's Record Store Day, the new incarnation of Murfreesboro's annual springtime bikes-and-bands fest is looking like another hot number for our dance card. Building on the model pioneered by Tyler Walker's Tour de Fun, Boro Fondo's trio of organizers have tapped a talent pool that's both wide and deep, featuring over 60 bands from across the mid-state, many of whom were featured on a pretty sweet mixtape we mentioned previously. As noted in the above Wyld Stallyns-evoking promo, the offerings — which will take place this weekend, April 19 and 20 — have been expanded to include stand-up comedy, a poetry slam, a pop-up art gallery, and one 10-minute play.

According to the schedule, close to a dozen creatively named houses and several businesses have been secured to host mini-shows, with venues around the Murfreesboro Square handling the nighttime portion of the party. Even the Rutherford County Courthouse will join in, hosting some of the non-musical activities. One key difference from the original Tour de Fun (which may emerge here in Nashville next spring) is the block-party concept, in which several simultaneous shows are booked in close proximity. While this may provoke some tough decisions about who to see, compacting the travel keeps everyone a little bit safer, and that ain't a bad thing. It's also nice to see seasoned groups like Fancytramp and Meth Dad booked alongside less-familiar faces like Christlove and Roman Polanski's Baby. Whether singer-songwriters, experimental noise acts or good ol' rock 'n' roll is more to your taste, there's something booked for you. As always, the event is free, and biking is not required — though it looks like the bikers have more fun!

After the jump, catch the full skinny, including some addenda from the event's Facebook page:
