Weekend Round-Up: Ides of March Style

Et tu, Gotye?
  • Et tu, Gotye?
It's the Ides of March, y'all, and you know what that means: Watch your back. Or else someone you thought you could trust might go stabbing south by southwestward through your toga, then you'll be to' up from the flo' up. Or so the story goes. Hey, did you know that Jim Peterik of The Ides of March went to the same high school I did and co-founded Survivor and wrote "Eye of the Tiger"?

Anyway. There are some solid shows you could go see this weekend without waiting in line six hours to not see Prince first. For instance: Tonight alone you've got R. Stevie Moore topping the bill with fellow Cream faves Action! and Bad Friend at the Stone Fox; Tim Chad and Sherry working it out with Anchor Thieves and Hello Walls over at The End; and Black Tar Prophet joining Backwoods Playback and Before the Eyewall at Springwater. Now, if you don't have tickets to the very sold-out Nick Cave show at the Ryman Saturday night, I have bad news for you: The meet-and-greet and autograph sesh with the "human spider himself" at Grimey's at 1 p.m. is also sold out. Hey, just trying to save you some heartbreak here. What else? Chance Warhol at the Greenhouse, Alison Krauss getting Waldorf-y at Marathon, Funkonauts releasing their record at The High Watt, and probably a lot of shitfaced amateurs figuring St. Patty's Day Eve is a thing they should be out celebrating.

Like I said: Watch your back. And have a strong weekend, everyone. Let us know if we missed anything.
