The Howlin' Brothers' 'Big Time'; HOWL out Today via Readymade [Fresh Vid]

As avid Cream readers will no doubt recall, old-school country/string-band outfit and Ithaca transplants The Howlin' Brothers stopped by our headquarters not too long ago to perform for the latest installment in our ongoing Conference Call performance-vid series. Well, in the run up to the release of their brand-new Brendan Benson-produced LP HOWL — out today via Benson's Readymade Records and available for purchase here — the Brothers have been grinding away, playing more shows than you can shake a banjo at (though I advise against shaking your banjo). Somewhere in there, they managed to shoot a video for their new tune "Big Time" with director Doug Lehmann, who's also known for fronting local rock outfits The Clutters and Mystery Twins. The video debuted yesterday via American Songwriter, and you can watch that above.

"The boys return to their roots with 'Big Time'," says AS contributor Andrew Leahey, "a B&W video that finds the group playing an acoustic set at Layla’s, eating plates of soul food at a Broadway diner, browsing the stacks at Ernest Tubb’s Record Shop, and walking down the street toward the Cumberland River." We'll have a little something on The Howlin' Brothers' March 20 appearance at The Station Inn in next week's forthcoming dead-tree edition of the Scene, but for now, give the video a look.
