Well, it's about as sonically far from Link Wray's "Rumble" as can be, but that doesn't mean it ain't pretty damn good. Local songstress Brooke Waggoner recently revealed her brand-new Allister Ann-directed video for the tune "Rumble" (see it above), and it looks an awful lot to me like it was shot at the world's tallest tree house in Crossville, Tenn. No? Just using context clues here.*
Anyhow, as previously noted, the Jack White sidewoman will release her album Originator on March 5. Back when Waggoner debuted the song "Ink Slinger" via Rolling Stone, I called it a "busy, upbeat, defiant pop song" that "moves swiftly, dynamically and earwormingly through a tight three minutes." "Rumble" too is a busy and bombastic pop number, but it clocks in at an even terser two minutes and 11 seconds. Waggoner will play an album release show March 5 at 3rd & Lindsley with support from Among Savages and Sanders Bohlke.
* Ms. Waggoner confirms that the "Rumble" video was indeed shot at Crossville's famed tree house.
