Just last week, we came to find that the one and only Black "Frank Black" Francis will be playing Mercy Lounge on Feb. 14. Well, wouldn't you know it, word came 'round the bend this morning that his fellow Pixie Kim Deal will bring her Breeders to the very same club precisely three months later.
You see, this year marks the 20th anniversary of The Breeders' breakthrough record Last Splash, and on April 23, 4AD will release LSXX, a deluxe anniversary edition of Splash. Naturally, Kim & Co. will be touring in support of the reissue, with a May 14 stop at Mercy among the string of North American and European dates. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at this link, and those will cost you precisely one Jackson.
As noted on their site, this touring lineup features the same players — Kelley, Kim, Jim and Josephine — that recorded and toured on Last Splash back in '93. They'll be playing the record "from beginning to end" and will be joined by longtime Breeders violinist Carrie Bradley, "who played on the album as well as on several Breeders tours." And now, because it's one of those iconic '90s music videos, let's all gather 'round after the jump to watch the Kim Gordon- and Spike Jonze-directed video for "Cannonball." Crash, I'm the last splash!
