We've had all sorts of local tracks spill onto the Net since our last Week in Fresh Tracks installment. While it's not available for free download anywhere, local power-pop tunesmith and Raconteur Brendan Benson just made his new single "Swimming" available for download via iTunes. From what I can gather in listening to the iTunes preview and the RDIO preview, it's a characteristically Bensonian little pop number — lazy, sweet, playful and loping like a sunny summer afternoon. Also, local thinking-man's punk Daniel Pujol and his PUJOL returned to Daytrotter for their second session, and that features performances of "Armor," "DIY2K," "Reverse Vampire" and "Providence." When you're done perusing that stuff, follow me below to hear Brother Leather's power-pop, Ryan Scott Burleson's post-rock and Static Revival's pop rock. As always, check out past weeks in fresh tracks here, and hip us to your own fresh-track action via cream[at]nashvillescene[dot]com.

Brother Leather, "Illusionist" and "Sailing"

You may remember that, more than a year ago, former Paper Route frontman Andrew Smith launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to put out Meat Mural, his debut LP under the moniker Brother Leather. Mr. Smith didn't hit his goal the first time, but he pushed forward with another campaign and secured the funds to put out Meat Mural, which was released last week. You can download a little sampler of the record at Smith's website, or hear a couple of tracks above or via Brother Leather's Soundcloud page. "Illusionist" features a Kinks sort of progression filtered through a '90s power-pop lens — maybe a touch of, say, Blur or Superdrag. "Sailing," on the other hand, is the kind of open-hearted, pop-minded arena folk that you simply cannot hear without thinking of Arcade Fire. Good tunes, both of them. Stream or download via Soundcloud, or go here for more on Brother Leather.

Ryan Scott Burleson, You Are All My People

Full disclosure: Local dude Ryan Burleson frequently writes about music for us. As it happens, Burleson is one of those money-where-his-mouth-is music writers who also records tunes of his own — tunes of an ambient, post-rocky ilk, as a matter of fact. Burleson just released his three-song EP, You Are All My People, and according to Burleson himself, "It's just me playing airy guitars and toying around with loops and a bit of programming." Definitely recommended for fans of fellow locals Hammock — or really for anyone who likes pretty, gauzy, shoegaze-y instrumental music. Good Cause Alert: $3 from every purchase of YAAMP goes directly to Nashville homeless shelter Room in the Inn. You can stream it above or get it for $3 (or more, if you want to be sweet and generous) via Burleson's Bandcamp page.

Static Revival, "Whole"

Want to know what Bob Seger might sound like if he were in a contemporary radio-friendly alt-rock band? Personally, I think it'd sound like Static Revival. The Revivalists have a new video (see it below) for their tune "Whole," a track from their six-song EP Gilding the Lily. You can also stream or download the song itself above or via Static Revival's Soundcloud page.
