Well would you look at that? Elle Macho's back. Or, to paraphrase one of their older tunes, Elle Macho is back with the intention of messing with your mind. Unlike the afore-linked, somewhat chromatically plodding song from almost precisely three years ago, Elle Macho's brand-new "Conquistador" (see the video above) has a whole lot of ideas going on. As does the Joseph Anthony Baker-directed video itself, which is beautifully shot and features bull-fighting and body-painting and yes, even a nude Butterfly Boucher (that bit kind of straddles the SFW/NSFW line, so proceed at your own discretion). "Inspired by real-life matadora Mari Paz Vega," says the video's Vimeo description, "the song and video treatment explore the internal and emotional battle that goes on in the lead up to a bullfight, from both the matadora's perspective and that of the bulls."
"Conquistador" was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Mark Nash. The indie-rocking power trio, co-fronted by solo artists Boucher and David Mead with Lindsay Jamieson on drums, will release their LP Import on Feb. 5.
