The Altered Statesman and Self Help Featured on Music City Shake Down

Hey, it's this thing again! The folks behind everyone's favorite local-rock-centric public-access show, Music City Shake Down, have uploaded a couple of their most recent per-faux-mances, as I like to call them.

First up is Steve Poulton and his Altered Statesman, which I once described as "country- and jazz-inflected soul of an experimental and somewhat avant-garde ilk." Poulton and his crew of all stars mime along to "You're Making Rough Use of Them Girls" while backed by a very effectively utilized green screen, and you can watch that above. It's very good stuff. After the jump you'll find Murfreesboro's angular, post-punky rock 'n' rollers Self Help doing their "Nurse Ratched" — which appears to be mislabeled as "Nurse Ratchet," but we all know it's a reference to Nurse Ratched. Keep an eye on MCSD's YouTube channel for more. Oh, also, there's this Cat Time thing where hosts Olivia and Courtney talk about cats for a minute. That one's after the jump, too.
