Excuse me a second, I have to catch my breath — Jay-Z rapping over The Carpenters' "Carol of Bells" has me in stitches. Wick-It, the goofiest grindhouse basterd to ever step behind the decks, is back on that hip-hop tip again — Thank Krampus! — and he's going hard in the egg nog with the 12-minute maxi-mix "A Very Wick-It Christmas." It's like that Jive Bunny record but with rap! I kid, I kid — it's nothing like Jive Bunny. Sort of. Am I the only one that bought the
Jive Bunny Christmas record? Probably.
Anyway, Wick-It's new one is better than Jive Bunny. It's no Christmas at Luke's Sex Shop, but it's definitely better than Jive Bunny. The real gift here is locals Iller — formerly of The Billy Goats — and Fyutch — formerly known as Future — teaming up on "The Grinch" and absolutely killing it on their duet with Thurl Ravenscroft. It's the sort of mean-spirited holiday spirit that anybody that's gone anywhere near Green Hills in the last few weeks can get behind. Fah who foraze and welcome Christmas and all that shit!
