Super-motivated and oh-so-hip local electro-popsters Wild Cub unveiled their debut LP Youth back in August. When I reviewed it, I called the record "sparkling and tuneful and full of rich and complex rhythms, all swirling and plinking and jangling along in the background." Well, do you want to see how all that swirling, plinking janglage came to pass? In the official video for "Thunder Clatter," which you can watch above, you'll see a roomful of auxiliary percussionists and vocalists doing their youthful, jubilant, celebratory rhythmic-accompaniment thing. Who doesn't like pretty, young, hip people with maracas and floor toms? The vid was shot at Farmland Studios by Ryan Kendrick and Will Holland, and directed by Holland. Occasional freelance Scene shutterbug Dabney Morris handled the "lighting, etc." The "Thunder" video debuted today via Guardian, who called the tune "a disarmingly sweet tropical pop song featuring a video fuelled by red wine." Youth will be released across the pond, as they say, on Jan. 14.
