Hip-hop: It's a young man's game. I'll admit that I'm a little long in the tooth to get down with some of today's prevailing trends in the rap world, but 8-year-olds rapping about imaginary cars is something I understand. Grown-ups talking about their imaginary cars gets old quick, but Iszy and P-Nut aren't fronting. Their cars are in fact imaginary, and they are very explicit about it — it's a rare bit of honesty in a genre that can be overbearing in its boastfulness. Also, they're 8 — they wouldn't be able to reach the pedals. So yeah, "Favorite Cars" gets the P&B gold star. It's clever and true to form but never crosses the line into weird and inappropriate. Iszy and P-Nut are charming and surprisingly accomplished for kids their age — clearly there's an adult behind the production, but these kids have the rap-star act down pat — and it's pretty hilarious to hear an 8-year-old reference 2 Chainz.
Time for more [PG Rated] party and bullshhhhh ... it's around the corner.
* Were you at With Your Friends? Did you get this close to Nas at With Your Friends? 'Cause I sure as hell didn't. I can't even put my jealousy into words.
* YouTuber hegge88 has uploaded a ton of underground Southern hip-hop from the '90s, including this track from Nashville's Greenwade. Anybody know anything about this dude? Drop knowledge in the comments if you do. I think it goes without saying that there isn't a ton of documentation on this era in Nashville rap.
* The Pharcyde has co-signed on Gummy Soul's Bizarre Tribe: A Quest to The Pharcyde remix album. That's pretty epic.
