* The fine folks over at historic local venue War Memorial Auditorium are back with yet another installment in their Attic Sessions series. We've posted a whole slew of the sessions, and as you'll see on WMA's YouTube channel, they continue to produce installments most prolifically. Season 2 Episode 5 features a performance and chat with Two Dollar Tuesdays host and noted songster Derek Hoke. Watch above to see Hoke talk about the laid-back like-mindedness of East Nashvillians (as well as his own rock 'n' roll roots) and do some of the trad-style crooning he's known for.
* A little over a year ago, I described the output of Nashville's Leagues as featuring "grandiose vocal melodies, ambitious arrangements and the sort of feel-good imagery about broken hearts in romantic locales — deserts and Midwestern fields and so forth — that says, 'We intend to play really big venues before too long.'" Ambitious pop-rockery. Well, MTV Hive just debuted Leagues' Allister Ann-directed video for "Spotlight," and you can watch that after the jump. It features a lot of black-and-white fireworks, party vibes, hair shaking and performance footage that works well with Leagues' urgent if not especially challenging pop. Leagues' LP You Belong Here will be released Jan. 29 via Bufalotone Records.
* And finally, dance-popster Preston Leatherman's video for the tune "Feel This Way" has over 55,000 views — I know that because the dude has been tweeting at us about it for a week now. Anyway, it's got the makings of a millennial-pop hit: melisma, histrionics, a half-time breakdown, one guy playing a whole bunch of instruments, every color V-neck American Apparel has ever made, holding up cue cards with lyrics on them and pointing directly at the camera. See it after the jump if that sounds like your bag.
