The last time Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson cut an LP, it was with Jack White for his Third Man Records. On her forthcoming Unfinished Business (out Oct. 9 via Sugar Hill Records), Jackson was produced by Justin Townes Earle, whose approach — as Wanda tells GQ — is more "laid back and cool" where White's was "hard-drive and punch-punch."
Jackson's lead-off single from Unfinished Business is a swingin' cover of of Freddie King's "Tore Down" (don't be fooled by GQ calling him "Freddy"; it's "Freddie" *). The video for "Tore Down" was directed by Cream contributor Seth Graves, and it features cameos from Chris Crofton, Erin Belle (formerly of Black Belles), Jonas Stein (Turbo Fruits), Heidi Feek, Tristen, Coco Hames and Poni Silver (The Ettes), Beth Cameron (Forget Cassettes, Ponychase), Col. JD Wilkes (Dirt Daubers, Shack Shakers), Ron Jeremy (yes, porn star Ron Jeremy), Nikki Lane, Shane Tutmarc, Brandon Jazz and more. Any video wherein The Chris Crofton Show's Chris Crofton gets stabbed, greasy porn king Ron "Won't Turn Down Any Gig" Jeremy gets "his" bike stolen and Turbo Fruits' Jonas Stein gets his pretty face cigarette-burned out of a photo ... well, that's a music video I've got to watch. On repeat.
* Until 1964, King did in fact use the spelling "Freddy" on his recordings, so GQ isn't wrong here.
