* Well, if The Spin is to be believed, Turbo Fruits' record release Friday night at Exit/In was a smash hit. With Butter out tomorrow via Kings of Leon's Serpents and Snakes Records, it looks as though the Fruits are getting a whole lot of media attention. There's The New Yorker calling them "bland" without really saying why, and Time Out New York being about four years behind as far as the Fruits' lineup goes. But there's also this Rolling Stone feature, in which frontman Jonas Stein talks about being on Serpents and Snakes and releasing vinyl and listening to Enya.

* Speaking of Nashvillians talking to Rolling Stone, The Black Keys recently slipped RS a bit of knowledge regarding the recording of their next LP. Auerbach tells the Stone that he and Carney began working on their next effort back in July, and that they intend to regroup and wrap the thing up in early 2013. Auerbach also talked a bit about working on records with locals JEFF the Brotherhood, as well as forthcoming collabs with Hanni El Khatib, Bombino and Nikki Lane. Oh, also, Dan Auerbach is now on Twitter.

* We already shared with you the trailer for this year's Circuit Bender's Ball, which will take place Sept. 29 at Brick Factory. But we haven't yet told you about how the Bender folks have a Kickstarter, via which they're hoping to pull in some additional funds for the fest. The festival is a nonprofit endeavor, and according to the CBB folks, "all donations will go toward artist compensation, advertising, set decoration, and workshop materials." Visit their Kickstarter page to see all their incentives, and watch that trailer again after the jump.

* And finally, Wild Cub has a brand-new Daytrotter session. The Nashville-based electro-pop outfit released their Youth last month — it's a record that I said is "sparkling and tuneful and full of rich and complex rhythms, all swirling and plinking and jangling along in the background" — and this DT sesh features renditions of a handful of cuts from the record.
