Moving Pictures The Black Keys Debut Springwater-Shot Video for 'Little Black Submarines' [Fresh Vid]

Remember all the hubbub back in June when local dudes and international superstars The Black Keys decided to shoot their video for "Little Black Submarines" — a single from last year's quality long-player El Camino, of course — in renowned Nashville shithole (excuse me, "iconic Nashville dive bar") the Springwater Supper Club and Lounge? We reported on it. Our own Adam Gold reported on it for Rolling Stone. Well, speaking of RS, that's where the Keys just debuted the finished product, which you can also see above. Keys frontman Dan Auerbach told the Stone that the video didn't end up being just exactly what they were going for, but that's OK and maybe better and stuff. Here's his quote:
"There was a storyline but it didn't work," the guitarist says of the vision that he and drummer Patrick Carney originally had for the Danny Clinch-shot video.Because they already had performance footage in the can — the Keys, Auerbach says, let a select group of fans into the minuscule bar for the filming of the one song and ended up playing an entire show — a live video became the best option. "We all just sort of kind of mutually agreed that it should probably just be the performance and not any of the other extra stuff," he says. “Luckily we had live footage so we turned it into a live video. We just sort of said 'You know, it was fun kind of performing here at a small club with the fans. Why don't we just have it be that?'"
Why don't we just have it be that indeed. Everybody wins!
