Weekend Round-Up: Pussy Riot Style

Seeing as how you're a person who's interested in music, and free speech, and democracy, and basic human rights, I'm sure I don't have to tell you about Russia's punk collective Pussy Riot and how they're currently detained on charges of "hooliganism" for staging a demonstration in Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral. Of course you know folks like Paul McCartney and Peaches and Bjork have spoken out in support of Pussy Riot, and seeing as how you're up to speed on all that, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that the verdict in Riot's trial comes down today. [Update: Pussy Riot was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison.]

By the way, no Chris Crofton Show this week. Crofton & Co. attempted to record a new episode, but apparently it was lost in a power outage. Bummer. Back next week.

So anyhow, why don't we just go ahead and talk about what's going on in town this weekend? It's a really, really solid one. Tonight you've got the first night of East Nashville Underground at The East Room with Chance Warhol, The Joy of Painting, Sex Bombs and more; Caitlin Rose with Andrew Combs, Dirt Heavy and Steelism at The Basement; Space Capone at Mercy; Heypenny with Umbrella Tree and Daniel Ellsworth and the Great Lakes at The High Watt, and loads more. Tomorrow night you're looking at Archers of Loaf and Quichenight at Mercy; the Perry Baggs tribute with Jason and the Scorchers at Exit/In; Ttotals' release show at Brick Factory; Bad Friend's release early at Grimey's; Fox Fun's 7-inch release at The Other Basement; the second night of East Nashville Underground with Fly Golden Eagle and more; Bonobo's DJ set at Cannery, and plenty more. Have a look at the rest — compiled by music listings editor Adam "Free Pussy Riot" Gold — after the jump. Let us know what we missed, and have yourselves a liberated weekend.
