'Nashville Takes on the Blues' for Cold Stares' Chris Tapp Tonight at 3rd & Lindsley

If you're a fan of The Cold Stares, you're likely aware of the worries that are making it hard for the Nashville blues-rock duo to concentrate on music these days. If you haven't heard, at his blog The Agitator Nashville-based Huffington Post senior writer and investigative journalist Radley Balko catches everyone up to speed. Not long ago, frontman/guitarist Chris Tapp was diagnosed with melanoma. Treatment includes chemotherapy and radiation courses that are both grueling and expensive, and Tapp, his wife and two children still face their regular bills.

But in Nashville, you never know how many people have your back until you're flat on yours. Rallying to the Tapps' aid 8 p.m. tonight at 3rd & Lindsley are a roster of familiar faces from the local club scene, some of whom never seem to have turned down a request benefit performance. Among the featured players are Matthew Perryman Jones, Thad Cockrell, Erin McCarley, Jeremy Lister, Emily West, Mark Huff, Betsy Ulmer, Jason Eskridge, Jill Andrews, and Maile Misajon, with surprise guests a strong possibility.

The theme for the evening is "Nashville Takes on the Blues," fittingly enough. This from Balko, a fan:
