If you managed to catch Lowe opening for Wilco at the Ryman last Fall, his Songwriter Session at The Country Music Hall of Fame last Summer, his unforgettable 2008 Belcourt show or probably any other performance Basher has done in his 40-plus-year career as solo artist, member of Brinsley Schwarz, Rockpile, Elvis Costello and the Confederates or John Hiatt’s Little Village, then you know that this is some serious must-see territory. And if you’re a live-Lowe virgin, well then you’re in for a real treat. Lowe is easily one of the most captivating solo performers to ever set foot on a stage, creating a fourth wall-be-gone atmosphere like no other. And when it comes to witty stage banter, Bill Cosby ain’t got shit on Nick the Knife.
Revisit the long-ass interview I did with Lowe last year to remind yourself of Basher’s badassness. Short on time? Then check out the clips after the jump to see how the 63-year-old singer-songwriter has still totally got it. Ticket info TBA. Tickets are $20-$25 and go on sale this Friday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at Grimey's, The Groove, Parlour & Juke Salon or right here.
