Your eyes deceive you not, my fellow local-rock aficionados. Even though we at the Cream had a bit of nostalgic fun at roughly this time last year, the above flier is no joke, no prank and no April foolery. You see, Cream contributor Seth Graves and his Gravy Style Productions (which I'm fairly certain is just Graves and his Macbook) booked the First Annual Reunion 8 off 8th for April 23 at Mercy Lounge. While kiddie punkers MEEMAW — the outfit that splintered off into PUJOL, Heavy Cream and Natural Child, and the Holy Grail of local-rock reunions — aren't among the booked past-blasts, there are some solid surprises in the mix. From giants of Boro emo Imaginary Baseball League to Jetpack (reborn as Jetpack UK and now known as The Nobility) and the Dean Shortland-beloved Tommy and the Whale, there are some chuckle-inducing "Oh yeah, those guys!" bits on that there flier. Still, no Privates? No Hotpipes? No Eureka Gold, De Novo Dahl, Be Your Own Pet, Apollo Up! or Lifeboy? Yes, if you're new around these parts, then I just reeled off what was effectively just a bunch of gibberish at you. But the old-timers know what I'm talking about.
Anyhow, Graeme Morris designed the above flier, and there's a Facebook event page. RSVP, don't RSVP — it's free either way.
