Now through April 12, Collins' cohorts are hosting an eBay auction in which the winning bidder will get to record two songs with an engineer at The Sound Emporium — a local studio with a roster of past clients including Bob Dylan, Bill Monroe, Dolly Parton, Steve Earl, Jack White, Taylor Swift and REM, to name but a handful. What's more, 13 different sidemen (who, between them, have done work with Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant, Peter Frampton, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Norah Jones and countless more) have offered their services for the recording, and the auction winner will get to hand-pick his or her own backing band from the list. I know there's at least one reader out there with a big heart, a big pocketbook and big dreams of stardom — or at least dreams of bossing around some ridiculously skillful players. Also, if you want to donate but aren't sure you can afford to hang with the eBay big dogs, you can make a donation via GiveForward.
Have a look after the jump to see your full roster of potential sidemen.
