Steve Winwood, Mavis Staples, Randy Newman will head up the festival’s Social Security-eligible contingent of supports. Cage the Elephant, Coheed & Cambria, Chris Cornell, Flogging Molly and Switchfoot will bring the RAWK. Paul Oakenfold and Skrillex will bring the beats. String Cheese Incident, Dispatch, STS9, Gary Clark Jr., G. Love and Special Sauce, Michael Franti and Spearhead and Julian Marley will bring the jams. … And (sigh) Dave Matthews Band headlines. Wouldn't it pretty trippy if a giant wave, you know, crashed into Dave on his command?
Roll tide.
Sounds like a pretty good frat party, amirite? Actually, I’m not right. There’s no such thing as a good frat party. But it does sound like a damn fine beach party, potentially. So if you’re lookin’ to get crazy in Alabama come May, click on over to the festival's official site to purchase tickets and further peruse the lineup.
And if you’re looking for more hints as to artists you can expect to see named on the still-unannounced Bonnaroo 2012 lineup, perhaps Hangout Festival’s marquee provides some good food for prognosticative fodder. Last year the Bonnaroo and Hangout lineups overlapped by a dozen or so artists.

Not much surprise registered in me when I read the title of this post. I don't mean that in a bad way necessarily. I'll be seeing the names Jack White, DMB, Wilco, etc associated with festival lineups for the next several months I'm sure. So I continue to read the post and the names Steve Winwood, Mavis Staples & Randy Newman come up and my interest is raised considerably only to see that I'm considered eligible for Social Security or should be if I like these three artists enough to go to the Hangout Fest. I'm only 38! I like Jack White, Dr. Dog, AL Shakes, the Flaming Lips just fine but they all pale in comparison to Winwood, Staples & Newman. I know there's no accounting for taste. But surely there are those 38 yrs old and younger who will go to the Hangout Fest on the strength of those three artists!?
And maybe that same demographic, like myself, will also want a giant wave to crash into the Dave Matthews Band.
Dave Matthews Band puts on a great concert and rarely plays his radio hits live. May a wave crash into you!

"Dave Matthews Band puts on a great concert" - That's like what a fecalpheliac says about a shit show.
Getting an education reading the NS (online)...had to look up the word fecalpheliac and found it under "urban dictionary". A fecalpheliac means someone whose life revolves around poop:smelling it, eating it, touching it, rubbing on it...anyone who is obsessed with everything pertaining to poop. Damn, where have I been to be missing out on all of this knowledge. Actually I was raising kids making sure they got a good education. I also know the best time to go to the beach is when it is cold outside and there 's hardly anyone else around. Then you can really enjoy the beach (and even find sea-shells in abundance). If I did have to be on a beach when it is hot outside, I wouldn't mind a great wave rolling over me while I am attending a good music show. Additional note: Got your meaning G-man..Dave Mathews is a pretty powerful force and I appreciate that he joined forces with old guys, Willie, Neil and John with Farm Aid relief for American farmers.
