Check out this generously lengthy trailer for Nothing Can Hurt Me: The Big Star Story, the forthcoming rock doc on power-pop godfathers Big Star. Big Star being the greatest band to — in my opinion and also in fact — ever hail from the great state of Tennessee.
Directed by Drew Denicola, Nothing is set for a "still-in-progress" screening at Austin's SXSW film conference in March. Check out the film's official site for more info.

First time learning about this band. Thanks for clip...especially like the guitar playing at the beginning. I'd have to say my song title would have to be "Nothing Can Hurt Me When I'm Dead". I believe for most folks, life can be a real bitch (on and off/at times)...that's why I'm trying my best to be nice person (that's not so easy to do all the time).
brings out the Johnny Reb in me: Big Star is the only time we whupped them English good and out-Beatled those Liverpuds. but why should I care, driving's a gas, it ain't gonna last.
nice trailer. I hope the film acknowledges that Big Star was really Chris Bell and Terry Manning's idea...or template...with Chilton bringing something else in there. Bell really was the huge British Invasion obsessive. But when people say it was all Chris Bell, and there are such people right here in Nashville who've worked with Alex, all I can say is, "Big Star's 'Third,'" which is a crucially idiosyncratic precursor to new-wave and punk music, done in total obscurity in 1974.
