If you want to dig back into
the Scene/Cream archives, there's certainly no dearth of love bestowed upon local electro-pop mastermind Ross Wariner and his project, Uncle Skeleton. Well, the Skeleton crew has an LP by the name of
All Too Human in the works, and in advance of that, they've released a single called "Sophisticuffs" via
YK Records. The single — along with a remix from DJ Burgers (the turntablist moniker of
Scene shutterbug Steve Cross), a live rehearsal outtake and a B-side called "Laii" — is available for free download via
Uncle Skeleton's Bandcamp page. Go ahead and give all of those a preview listen below, if you please. The tunes feature all the blooping, whirring, intricate pop madness we've come to know and love from Uncle Skelly.
And if you'd like to see the sophisti-pop of "Sophisticuffs" created in a live environment, you can catch Uncle Skeleton this evening at Mercy Lounge alongside fellow Nashville rock outfits By Lightning! and Casa Castile. And since we love providing context, download some free tunes from upbeat indie-pop ensemble By Lightning! right here (stream after the jump), and revisit Casa Castile's Nashville Cream Conference Call installments here, here and here (or stream the audio only after the jump).
