1. Good or evil? Canton-bound. Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath
2. A name amongst the Titans. What's your favorite flavor?
3. The original simpleton; misspell the mini-liar
4. Trained: a cloth sack state of mind. Savor the queen's delight.
5. Push in the IV; follow the vowels to the coming of age.
6. I am that I am, a performing cadaver. Look to the eye of the storm.
7. Offerings from the garden; "I think you're God."
I’d take a stab or seven at solving those #Roos clues but, truth be told, riddles annoy the piss out of me, and I’ll leave that heavy mental lifting to less lazy thinkers like Inforoo[dot]com Administrator Jason Hojenski (aka The Inforooster). He offers and relates some more easily discernible hints of his own on Twitter.
For example, he quotes a poster with the handle Insider as saying “So there are 2 bands 'headlining' both of who's names begin with an 'R', followed by a vowel, followed by a D."
I’ll take that alphabetastic reference to mean that wide speculation of Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers headlining appearances are more than likely merited.
Hojenski’s Twitter is also a cornucopia of aggregated double-winks, nudges and outright declarations of artists confirming and/or hinting at their Bonnaroo-bound status. Such artists include The War on Drugs, Fitz and the Tantrums and The Civil Wars.
And according to the “Artist Direct Confirmation” thread on Inforoo, other acts you can put your money on seeing in Manchester this June include The Silent Comedy, The Alabama Shakes, tUnE-yArDs, Black Lips, Robert Randolph, Tame Impala, Battles and Das Racist. The thread also has a lengthy list of artists that have denied they’ll make the festival this year, FYI.
While a similar Inforoo thread of “Rumors Quasi Confirmation” doesn’t literally confirm a Quasi appearance, it does list artists such as Kasabian, Mogwai, Givers, The Roots, Umphrey’s McGee, Phish (doing “Some sort of Christmas Party thing”), The Knux and Cage the Elephant.
Want more Bonnaroo? Then click on over to the wormhole of discussion and speculation that is Inforoo.
And if you think there isn’t enough content over there to exhaust your enthusiasm for The ‘Roo, consider ordering yourself a copy of the just-as-of-today-announced, 400-plus-photo-boasting official festival coffee-table book Bonnaroo: What, Which, This, That, The Other (cover art pictured below) over at the festival’s official site.
But before you do, tell me, what do you make of them clues and unofficial confirmations, eh?

No Quasi? Fuck that shit.

But seriously, the only act listed there that I'd like to see that I've not already seen is Battles.
PHISH DOING SOME SORT OF XMAS PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who can I call to sub for Paige McConnell for THAT show? I AM FOR REALS. YALL HATERZ CAN CAN TALK ALL YOU WANT. ADAM GOLD, PATRICK, BOTH STEVES, JACK SILVERMAN, LA-LIVIN' TRACY MOORE. I think in my dreams I am subbing for Paige at Bonnaroo and we're ONLY PLAYING XMAS SONGS. It must be 2012, because my dreams are certainly coming true. I can hear Mike Gordon's sweet bass silkiness on Sleigh Ride. Trey ripping Carol of the Bells!!! Does anybody feel this? Goose? Where's my man!? Interrobang!? Who cares about a non Braxton Battles? I've seen cymbal stands abnormally taller than that. Give me Trey ripping choruses of Joy To The World every day, all day, till Kali comes and takes us all to Space.
If the headliners are radiohead and rhcp i am definitely not going. i understand that roo has wanted to introduce more styles of music the last few years but they are getting to far away from what the festival started as. dont be stupid...have phish, wsp and furthur as the headliners and make everyone happy. im not saying not to include a few bands such as radiohead. but keep it how it was before...you also cant go wrong with primus, moe. disco biscuits, david byrne, disco biscuits, heck the beastie boys would be awesome too...atleast they stand for everything roo is supposed to be
It's so cool that they're putting Miley Cyrus on the What Stage this year!
"make everyone happy"......... you mean you and your friends who have been listening to the same ten bands for the last decade.
Dude, do you at least read the threads on Inforoo that you steal all your SUPER SEEKRIT inside info from?
Phish doing a "Christmas party thing?" No, it was confirmed they were playing from a source who heard about it at the AC/Superfly Christmas party. And yes, the headliners have been confirmed - Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and two sets of Phish.
Dude, imma lose my shit if Miley plays "Party in the USA". It'll be the greatest moment in Bonnaroo history.
two sets of phish is one too many
one set of red hot chilli peppers is one too many
this may be the year they lose their ass.
the state fair vibe just gets thicker and thicker every year down there
corporate festivals suck
stick a fork in bonnaroo's ass and turn them over, they're done
Those ten bands being the stereotypical jam bands that headline every hippy fest. Phish, any incarnation of Phish members, DMB, any incarnation of The Dead, Moe, YMSB, Umphrey, WSP, Gvt Mule, STS9, Disco Biscuits etc. Anyone who cares about the progress of music does not want to see these bands play the same song for twenty minutes.
@lacca
Um ... Bonnaroo stopped being an exclusively hippie fest in, like, 2004. They've had headliners like Eminem and Metallica in the last five years. All of the artists currently rumored for this year's Roo are consistent with the model the festival has developed over the course of its existence. So I'd say your comment is a little hyperbolic.
@spaceman
apparently that's what the roo'rganizers are counting on
but the drugs have sucked since, like, 2004 as well
and red bull does not give you wings. it gives you ulcers.
@lacca, why has the festival sucked since, like, 2004?
I disagree. Had a blast each year I've been, including 2002 and 2011.
On a side note - To all you Phish haters out there - keep in mind, Bonnaroo probably wouldn't have been as successful from the start if it wasn't for Phish's previous festivals, and their established model for success. Like it or not, the "hippie" community plays a big role in festivals. Although, the cool thing about Bonnaroo, from year one, is the diversity. Granted, they have a strong representation of jamband type acts each year, the diversity continues to expand. It's never been an exclusive jamband festival - I vaguely remember Norah Jones, Jurassic 5, Dottie Peoples and Del McCoury playing Bonnaroo 2002.
@gold, the festival has sucked since 2004!!!!
But PHISH played in 2008 or some jazz. Did it suck then? Nope. PHISH was there. And they rule ass. YOUENJOYMYSELF
I have gone for the last five years mainly cause it is always over my Birthday. I enjoy it every year but I do have to admit that the headliners have fallin off and I am really tired of widespread closing the festival. Last year they had Buffalo Springfield on the which stage and there were so many people there that I couldn't even see them and vaguely hear them cause by the time I got from the what stage to the which stage i was 30 min late into the set. They need to better organize how long they estimate it will take to get from place to place better or put the biggest artist on the main stage. I'm just saying. Booonnnaaarrroooo
Its the exact same artists that played back in 2004......AND MORE! Shut up and enjoy the time. I sure as hell welcome Radiohead and RHCP and I'm a damn hippie. What constitutes a hippie? Jambands only? Haha.
why does it have to be just hippies?? Why can it be for music lovers of all genres? The times they are changin expand your minds past the 60's. And please make an all metal festival in manchester after Bonnaroo thats alot of wasted space after june let us locals enjoys music year round.
nobody's gonna guess at the riddles? believe that was the main topic here.instead everyone just bitches about your disappointment with the past and kill everyone's buzz.
If you want a more festival festival go to Wackarusa or Electric Forest, Bonnaroo is about diversity, there will be rap, there will be jams, there will be folk and electronic, and everything in between. I like the small ones don't get me wrong, they are more friendly and peaceful, the vibes are better... Blackwater was a something special this past year, but Bonnaroo is that one time a year your get together with way too many other people and party for four days str8. The late night is Epic every year, the main stage acts are just the warm up for the crazy AM anyways. Peace, and see you at Wackarusa and Bonnaroo, what what?! Oh, and Purple Hatter's Ball is going to own!
i thought hippies were supposed to be full of worldly compassion, love, and understanding of all peoples as long as they cause no harm. i hope ya'll don't represent the modern hippie movement. if you do, the originators of the movement would be disappointed. i hope to go to roo for my first time this summer. i am going for the music, but for the environment as well. i just hope the environment is as friendly and open-minded as it is rumored to be.
love to nick cudd he hit that shit spot on just now...ill see you at roo and in ozark might be spun but ill see everyone that deserves some love....im from chester so ive seen the growth and what they are striving for and thats really just hosting anyone that might be on their ipod and to hell with people complaining anyone who constantly goes on about one specific genre or that its "not the same" should think about the fact its not about being the same or limiting yourself diversity and growth
Funkadunk, I've gone the last 4 years, and there are always a slew people bitching online when the lineup comes out. But Bonnaroo is always a blast no matter how many people sit behind a screen and passive aggressively degrade others choices in music. The people that show up are kind, compassionate and every year I look forward to 4 days of a community experience like none other. I don't like phish, but if they headline I'm still going. I've listened to RHCP since I was 10, and would love to see them there. If they don't show up on the lineup I'll still go. Plus, you always find bands you love but never listened to. For me it was Gogol Bordello. Go, and don't let the haters here ruin what is a great experience there.
I think riddle number 2 is Alabama shakes. "Name among the titans" (Alabama football National champs 2 out of last 3 years). What's your favorite flavor (milkshakes??)
It cracks me up to see everyone freak out about the line up and pronounce Bonnaroo dead. Me and my buddies have gone to Roo the last 5 years in a row, and now we just buy our tickets as soon as they go on sale. We had our tickets for this year a week after last year was over. There is sooooo much music, it really doesn't matter who the headliners are, although Eminem killed it and WS put on the best show I have seen them do in years. The vibe is incredible, the music is endless, and you can just check out for 4 days and live the experience. Don't player hate, player participate. Oh, and hydrate. Peace.
This will be my first quest to bonnaroo; only heard great things about it... until now. Idk y u would wana get on here and bash the performers, like, u know ur gonna go anyways. Don't be a fuddy duddy. As for the purpose of bonnaroo I never knew there was a particular purpose to "please the hippies".. I thought it was to bring everyone together to appreciate music, ALL music.. since were not all hippies that would mean bringing in a wider variety of artists to appeal to all sorts of musical preferences. If they decide to have Gucci mane there fuck it, the upside is the crowd that attracts will have an opportunity to be introduced to other genres of music in an awesome way. I'm honestly not too worried about who is going to be performing, its going to be an insane experience regardless.
