I could be lazy and block-quote the Consequence post on the matter at hand, or I could carefully and eloquently reword the information, thus eliminating the need to copy and paste. Guess which I'm going to do.
Auerbach first proposed the partnership in late 2010, insisting he’d produce “the best record [Dr. John] made in a long time,” according to an issued press release. Last year, they hallmarked their friendship with a dynamite Superjam at Bonnaroo.Auerbach states in the same release: “Mac inspired me every single day we were in the studio together: musically, spiritually, cosmically … something special seemed to be happening and everyone involved could sense it. For my money, Mac’s one of the greatest who ever was and who ever will be … I’m so honored to have had this opportunity to work with him.”
Dr. John also goes by Mac, in case you weren't aware. He's a man of many nicknames. Having toured Easy Eye personally, I can say that the place is packed to the gills with pretty remarkable vintage gear, so I imagine that Locked Down will have the warm sounds ... locked down. Anyway, you can see a couple of photos of Easy Eye from when we shot the place for my cover story on the Keys last year, and you can watch a clip of Dr. John and Auerbach Superjammin' it at the 'Roo after the jump.

Mac Rebennack, that's his name. As a teenager of that name he was already a valuable jack of all trades in the New Orleans music industry, long before he worked up the Dr. John act.
