You guys hip to Diamond Rugs yet? They're something of an indie supergroup (to use a phrase that is probably bandied about a bit too often ... possibly even in this instance) featuring members of Deer Tick, The Black Lips, Dead Confederate, Six Finger Satellite and Los Lobos. They just released an official music video for their song "Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant" — see it at Consequence of Sound or after the jump — and members John and Rob (the Deer Tick segment of the group) stopped in to perform the tune with Live and Reel. The Reel folks — who have already unleashed a ferocious slew of sessions from locals — mention the fact that Diamond Rugs are a national act, and not local. Which may be totally true, but I'll just say that I've probably seen Rugs/Tick frontman John McCauley at bars and shows here in Nashville about 16 times in the past two months. We'll call him an honorary local.
Anyway, watch the Rugs doing "Christmas ... " above or at L&R, and get the MP3 here. While you're at it, why don't you like Live and Reel on Facebook? It's only a click away.
