My colleague Jessica and I have been discussing the Cass McCombs interview with the label and Cass has realized over the past couple of months that he really would prefer to do interviews with females only. He finds that he's more open and comfortable in that situation, and he thinks it makes for a much better story. I think he also wants to shed light on more female writers. Jessica discussed the situation with M.T. and he is okay with it. I know it sounds strange, but I do understand him wanting to be in a position that will allow him to open up more and speak more freely. Would it be possible to arrange an interview with a female writer? Let me know.
We get all sorts of requests here. But never in my experience — or in the experience of the colleagues I asked — have we received a request citing gender (or ethnic, or religious, et cetera) specifications regarding the writer/interviewer. What, I wonder, if he'd asked that the interviewer be male? Or white? Not kosher, right?
