You guys all know about scrappy Southern blues punkers Denney and the Jets, right? You should by now, by God. Our freelance photog Diana Lee Zadlo (aka "Porkchop") even shot that road vlog of them for us last spring. (Hell, I just went and embedded it again after the jump for good measure.) And you know about local gallery/performance space Ovvio Arte, yeah? It's the place run by artists Veta Cicolello & Theo Antoniadis, who shot this video and this video for Those Darlins. Well, D and the Js are kicking off a four-part residency at Ovvio Arte tonight. Two Thursdays in December and two Thursdays in January, the boys will play sets with special guests and local openers and ... well, why don't I just let bass player Joey Scala explain it to you:

Each show will include a local opener (this Thursday it's Nikki Lane) and a guest DJ (Linwood Regensburg) and so far we have confirmations from Tristen, Natural Child, Ranch Ghost and more as special guests for each night. Also, local blogger/photographer Rebecca Seung [of Get Bent] will be having a show this Thursday and food truck Jonbalaya will be serving outside all night. ... Also, each show we will have at least one special guest playing with us. The shows are 21+ $8 BYOB, but there will be additional refreshments there.

There's more info at Ovvio's site, but here's the quick gist: Denney and the Jets playing wonderfully scuzzy blues rock, Nikki Lane delivering her critically acclaimed neo-trad country (allegedly with two-thirds of The Ettes as her new rhythm section), Those Darlins drummer Linwood Regensburg spinning choice cuts on the ones and twos, Get Bent's Rebecca Seung showing some fine photos, Jonbalaya providing grub, you providing your own damn booze. Sounds like a party, right?
