Considering the show only lasted a season and couldn’t have been that expensive to produce, I must have been one of just a handful of people who enjoyed it, because info online is scarce. I have vague memories of Josh Dodes getting on my nerves, Harlow having a hard time ‘cause they were chicks (and possibly not a very good band), Flickerstick being boring, and some dude from Soulcracker making out with a girl at a house party they played, like you’re gonna sell any merch at a house party. I had a crush on someone on the show, either the orange-haired guy from Soulcracker or the curly-haired guy from Flickerstick (I was 16). It’s frustrating not being able to confirm any of these half-remembrances. This show is probably never going to come out on DVD (did they use contemporary pop songs during the show the way Daria did?), so I guess I’m going to have to make do by following up on the rumor I heard about a college friend who might have VHS recordings. I hope I’m not misremembering how awesome this program was.
Showing 1-16 of 16
The last time I remember gas being under a buck was 1999.
The orange-haired guy from Soulcracker reminds me of Drop Dead Fred. Also, I began driving in 2001, and I seem to recall gas prices bouncing around near the $1 mark, typically ending up in the neighborhood of $1.08 or something. And then 9/11 made everything freak out for a second.
Speaking of which, how pre-9/11 is this show?? If it had been filmed a year later, it would have aired on CMT and the Eagle Tear content would have been through the roof.

I loved this show. It's available on the evil Torrentzzzzz sites. (Not that I do that sort of thing)
Absolutely my favorite TV of all time. I have the series (in poor quality) on DVD if you want a copy let me know. VH1 has pretty much pretended this never existed. Anything you need to know about it just ask!
@DoubleD - I would LOVE a copy. Mail to The Scene offices c/o Ashley Spurgeon? I'll figure out some way to return your kindness.
@Patrick - Drop Dead Fred was portrayed by Rik Mayall, British alt-comedy performer best known for his work in the seminal early '80s sitcom, "The Young Ones."
Here he is as The People's Poet:

Rumor has it that our very own John Bruton appears in the Nashville episode. Can anyone confirm or provide video evidence?
Getting old sucks. I can't nostalgia shows which were on air after I finished grad school.

You might like this AV Club article I just read. "Why are '90s Bands Played on Classic Rock Radio?"

In spite of the "holy shit errbody gets old" headline, it's more a question about the sound of '90s bands mixing with the "classic rock" we're all used to and recently discussed in the comments section right here on this very blog a few weeks ago when I was whinging about hearing the same 30 songs over and over again my whole life.
@Ashley Spurgeon - I will send out a copy of the show on Monday, will burn the DVD's this weekend...
BotR was the only music-based reality show I ever watched with any regularity, and remember with great fondness the part of the Nashville episode that had the guys from Soulcracker sitting at 12th and Porter, watching Mindy Smith, and being absolutely distraught that she was so much better than they.
LargeLand--this is absolutely true. We asked her to play with us at the Exit Inn after that. She brought more people than we did.
Oh My Gosh! I have also been hit with the nostalgia bug and I am looking for a copy of this right now. I can't find it anywhere! If you have anyway of sending it to me can you email me theryanpaul@gmail.com
Thanks!
Ryan
Can't believe it's been over 10 years. Too many memories and still craving a good rock show. Wish I could get out to the Reunion shows!
