Well, this one appeared out of nowhere (or "sneaked out of the creeper," as the kids are saying these days. Just kidding. No kids say that). I got a text message from my garage rock-embracing bro late on Halloween night reading simply, "Davila 666 Wednesday at Springwater. Did you know about this?" I responded that I did not, in fact, and also that I didn't care for the accusative tone. When I made it home to the loving embrace of the 'Book, I did indeed discover a Facebook invite to a show Nov. 2 at everyone's favorite supper club and lounge. In addition to Puerto Rican garage rockers Davila 666, the affair will also feature performances from Anglophilic post-punkers Useless Eaters, Bummer (they're the punk outfit featuring several members of Diarrhea Planet, and they're also the dudes who played Misfits covers on Monday night) and fellow punks Cannomen. Nashville's Dead reports that Atlanta's Barrerracudas will also be on the bill.
If you're curious about what a Davila 666 show at Springwater will be like, I'd guess it will be something like the time they played Springwater back in March for Nashville's Dead's Freakin' Weekend. Applicable adjectives include "sweaty," "punchy," "psych" and "raw." Davila also might do their cover of this Nerves song (the one Blondie made a hit out of). Hell, I'll just embed that one after the jump.
Cover for tonight's show is $10.
