Spider Virus to Make Rare Appearance on Nigel Tufnel Day at The 5 Spot

A golden nugget.

Good news for fans of local rock past (and local rock in general, really): Nashville ’90s alterna-proggers Spider Virus will regroup to play a pair of shows — their first in more than five years. The Virus will appear first on Nov. 4 at Atlanta’s Star Bar before returning to Nashville on Nov. 11 to infect The 5 Spot.

What’s the occasion? According to an email sent the Scene’s way, the shows are set as a send-off to Spi-Vi guitarist Hunt Adams, who is moving San Francisco way in pursuit of a career in visual arts. The band will perform selections from their Electric Erection and Radio Invaders LPs.

SV’s last onstage appearance was in 2006, in tribute to deceased drummer Traci Coss. The band also released a posthumous 37-track compilation of 8-track demos in 2007. You can bump the whole damn thing on Bandcamp.

Also of note (albeit barely), the calendar date of the Nashville show is none other than a once-a-century 11/11/11. That, as you may recall from this post, is Nigel Tufnel Day. Rock City Birdhouse and local AC/DC tribute ensemble Riff Raff will open. Turn it up!
