Yesterday was a real gut-wrencher for local fans of local-gone-global indie-folkies-on-the-rapid-rise The Civil Wars — who were forced by infirmity’s cruel hand to cancel their appearance at last night’s Americana Music Festival kickoff at Cannery Ballroom. But — though it’s cold as shit and rainy as piss outside — today offers sweet rays of emotional sunshine for said Middle Tennessee Civil Wars buffs, as the duo has announced that they will return to Nashville Jan. 12 to make their heroic, hometown headlining debut at The Ryman. Of course — with inner-band illnesses now hopefully assuaged — this local war ensemble is still slated to case the joint with a performance at tonight’s Americana Honors & Awards extravaganza, where they’re nominees in categories for Best New/Emerging Artist and Best Duo/Group.
While tonight’s dealio is a one of the sold-out variety, tickets for the duo’s Jan. 12 homecomin’ dance go on sale at 10 a.m. next Friday, Oct. 21, here.
And don’t forget, tickets to see Axl Rose — who, you know, “don’t need your Civil Wars” — and his hired Guns at Bridgestone Arena go on sale tomorrow. Here's another clip from “Guns N’ Roses' ” recent Rock in Rio performance to entice your potential purchase:
