If you happen to find yourself near the Music Row Roundabout/Buddy Killen Circle/Proof That Nashvillians Can't Drive Death Trap today — as I did on my way to procure lunch — you'll notice that several of the n00d figures in Alan LeQuire's infamous Musica statue are sporting artificial Telecasters. Not too outrageous, considering that folks throw goofy duds and so forth on the statue with some regularity.
But it was enough to make me park my car and have a brief look. And upon closer inspection, I found that each guitar had the words "Vince Gill, Guitar Slinger" scrawled on it — Guitar Slinger, of course, being the name of Vince Gill's forthcoming record. All right, Vince. Well played. You got my dopey ass to park, brave one of the most treacherous areas for pedestrians in the Nashville area and take a picture of Musica like some sort of doofy noob tourist. I'm plotting my revenge prank as we speak.
