* It seems like just last month we were talking about Nikki Lane's Gone, Gone, Gone EP. Well, she'll be releasing her full-length debut Walk of Shame on Sept. 27, and you can stream the whole thing right now via Paste. Evocative, emotional trad country-style stuff with rich, full instrumentation and a lot of character in Lane's vocals. We'll talk a bit more about the record when that release rolls around.

* And speaking of Nikki Lane's forthcoming record, she'll be doing a celebratory release show at The Basement on Sept. 30 with blues-rock bad boys Denney and the Jets and retro soulsters The Alabama Shakes. D and the Js have an Infinity Cat-released 7-inch called "Killin' Machine" that's already available at Grimey's, but will be "officially" released the day of their show with the talented Ms. Lane. Nashville's Dead has all the deets on that, and you can hear "Killin' Machine" after the jump.

* Speaking of bluesy punk songs, Bad Cop — known for promo videos in which they generally give no fucks — just debuted their new song, "Gloom Bank," via Get Bent. Here's the direct link to the MP3. Gloomy grooves. I dig.

* And speaking of ... well, songs, did you know that Scene/Cream shutterbug Steve Cross also likes to crank out hot mixes under the alias DJ Burgers? It's true, and he's got a new fall 2011 mix called Fall 2011 Mixxxx. Damn, Burgers! You're playing fast and loose with the letter X! God help us! Anyway, loads of dance jams, remixes and smooth, sexy songs that people on cocaine (or not on cocaine, whatever) will probably like to groove to. Hear it after the jump, and see more details at Steve's blog, where he loves both music and science.
