Resident local hip-hop expert and general rabble-rouser Sean L. Maloney has many irons in the fire. So many, in fact, that he had to take a couple weeks off from his Cream-based column "Party & Bullsh*t" in order to, you know, regulate his grind and so forth. Maloney will be back soon with more local hip-hop tidbits. But in his absence, I'd be remiss not to mention the fresh video for "Gotta Have It" from local artist Dee Goodz. The track is from the recently released Floetic Justice 2, and Dee's debut LP, #DonaldG, is reportedly coming soon. Anyway, have a look at "Gotta Have It" above, which was directed by Cleary Clark for CASSO films and mostly features Dee flowing, some various digital manipulations and shifting aspect ratios.
And since we don't have Maloney around to stir up that rumor mill, I'll just say this: We know that Yelawolf's been kicking it here in town recently, but some folks say that's because he's recording here. True? False? Hard to say, but Yela's Radioactive drops Oct. 25, and he'll be playing the 12th Ave. outdoor stage Sept. 23 as part of SoundLand. Also, this here is good advice for any artist trying to break big outside of their home turf — hip-hop, rock 'n' roll or other, that shit's just some good advice.
