Caitlin Rose Signed to ATO Records, Birdcloud Video, Yelawolf Video, Jared Followill Tweets About JEFF [Newsy Bits]

* Relatively slow Monday, but here's a pretty sizable bit: Local songstress Caitlin Rose has been signed to ATO Records. Oddly enough, ATO was founded by (among others) Michael McDonald (apparently the manager, not the artist) and Dave Matthews. ATO has been behind releases from Radiohead, Dawes, MMJ, DBT, Patty Griffin and plenty of other noteworthy/great artists, however, so that should be enough to lower that cautiously raised eyebrow of yours. ATO will re-release Rose's debut full-length, Own Side Now, on Sept. 27, and Rose is touring throughout the fall with Jason Isbell, Justin Townes Earle and Hayes Carll. See those dates at her ATO artist page.

* Maybe you guys know about local duo Birdcloud, which features Jasmin Kaset and her partner Makenzie Green. Then again, maybe you don't. Either way, they write tongue-in-cheek folk songs about things like yelling at the moon while under the influence of 'shrooms, urinating in a parking lot in a pattern that resembles the shape of Africa and, in this case, being "Indianer" than "all y'all." See them performing "Indianer" in this video (also embedded after the jump), or catch 'em live at FooBar along with Denney and the Jets and The Bohannons on Aug. 31.

* Yelawolf isn't local. But he lived in Antioch at one point, and he'll be back in town for the SoundLand fest about four weeks from now. Anyway, he's got a video for his song "No Hands" from the forthcoming Radioactive, and it features footage from the video game Driver San Francisco. I don't know about all that, but I know the track is one of the best I've heard from Yela. That one's also after the jump.

* Kings of Leon's Jared Followill tweeted about JEFF the Brotherhood. Twice, actually. He also tweeted about being at The Features' release show at Mercy Lounge, but that's pretty unsurprising, considering The Features are signed to KOL's imprint, Serpents and Snakes. The question is, will Serpents and Snakes now try to poach JEFF out from under Warner Brothers? Yeah, probably not.
