SoundLand to Give Away a Pair of Wristbands, Old Crow Medicine Show on Hiatus, Nashville's Dead Officially Releases Bad Sports Single [Newsy Bits]

* You guys realize that SoundLand 2011 is only, like, five weeks away, right? All-music wristbands and single-show tickets are still on sale ($55 for the former, $25 apiece for the latter) right here, but I know how you can get a pair of wristbands for free. This is on the D.L., so be cool. If you RSVP via Facebook for Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T.'s Sept. 23 show at the 12th Avenue Block Party Stage, you could snag a pair of freebies. Do it quickly. They're picking the winner on Thursday.

* Nashville-based rootsy old-timers — old-timers as in "old-time music," not old-timers as in "They're old" — Old Crow Medicine Show are reportedly going on hiatus. According to their website, "Old Crow Medicine Show is on hiatus as we seek health and wellness over the coming months." They've canceled the remainder of their 2011 dates, and refund info is available on their site. I put in an email to Old Crow's folks to see if there were any further details, but "there is no other statement at this time" was the response. Best of luck to 'em, as I know their fans would love to see them both pickin' and grinnin' once again in the not-too-distant future.

* I told you that local labely-bloggy crew Nashville's Dead would be putting out their fourth single before too long. Well, "too long" must be coming up, because Bad Sports' "Nothin' to Do" single is officially out today. Bad Sports are Texans, but they were also the first and last band to play at now-defunct house-show hub Glenn Danzig's House. Anyway, hear "Nothin' to Do" here, and buy it here. The ND kids will be announcing their fifth single — "from a brand new band that we’re obsessed with" — in the next week.
